Abrasives for glass matting

Abrasives for glass matting

Unique interior items are appreciated from ancient times. Glasses with a matte pattern and drawings have been very popular for many years. Glass and mirror surfaces provide a huge space for flying fantasy and allow you to create original things for the design of rooms.

Matting is the decoration of glass and mirror surfaces. The entire process is carried out under high pressure in a special chamber equipped with ventilation.

When sandblasting - the abrasive is sprayed onto a glass or mirror surface. The procedure using abrasive particles is carried out under high pressure. The image has a different grain size and processing depth, depending on the type of abrasive material and the strength of the air jet supplied.

Surfaces are decorated in the following way: using special equipment and a stencil on which the layer of abrasive material is sprayed. Then the stencil is removed, and the necessary ornament or pattern appears on the glass.

A few centuries before, there was no special equipment, and matting was done manually. To do this, sand poured onto the glass and, pressing it with a massive solid object, moved them in a circle. After such a procedure, the glass became roughened. Today, this process has become much simpler: it is carried out using a jet of air with particles of abrasive material in a special chamber.

Thanks to sandblasting, you can apply any image to the surface. A picture with a bas-relief effect is created using deep matting. And using special stencils and a film, unusual matte patterns are created on the glass.

However, sandblasting is used not only to create unique glass and mirrors. It is used for the manufacture of glass countertops, bathroom shelves, stained glass, mirrors, office partitions, interior doors.

Spraying from abrasive materials is durable and is resistant to external factors. In addition, thanks to sandblasting, the products look unusual and exquisite, delivering aesthetic pleasure.

Sandblasting equipment consists of devices that work with the use of compressed air. It would be more reasonable to call them abrasive blasting machines. After all, when matting the glass for a fairly long period of time use not only sand, but also all sorts of abrasive materials.

At the initial stage glass matting was carried out only with the use of sand. But in the age of new technologies, there are many abrasives appeared, which makes it possible to apply any image to the surface.
